A Creator's Challenge: Visualizing the Three Divine Avatars
Have you ever wondered how a scene from a novel leaps off the page and becomes an image you can’t forget? Today, I want to invite you into that very process—the intimate, magical journey behind the illustrations for ‘The Mourner, the Hunter, and the Watcher‘, the 2024 Illustrated Edition of my book, Kenomitian Chronicle One, specifically the chapter of «Vision of a Dead Expired».
It all began with a spark—a single, powerful vision from the text that demanded to be seen:
“I saw the Supernal respond to their prayers, opening vacuous eyes as they manifested avatars in the form of dragons, angels, and demons; far above the thrones”.
These weren’t just words on a page; to me, they were a living, breathing moment. To give it form, I partnered with a unique collaborator: the artificial intelligence of DALL-E 3. Our process was less about technology and more like an artistic conversation. I would provide the vision, and it would return echoes of that vision in visual form. We explored countless paths in this dance of prompts and pixels. I show you some of these images.

Among multiple creations, only the most evocative and narrative-aligned are meticulously chosen for the book. This is the image that captures the essence of the scene, taking the reader’s imagination on an unforgettable visual journey.

This image is more than just art; it’s an invitation. It’s the visual heartbeat of a pivotal moment, and I believe it perfectly captures the awe and terror of witnessing the divine.
